Dial Up Internet Reviews

Dial Up Internet ReviewsNot all dial up Internet access providers are the same. They range from bare bones simple plans to more pricey full featured plans. These reviews will show you what is good and bad about each provider so you can make up your own mind.

People PC

People PC is one of the highest ranked dial up Internet service providers for customer satisfaction. The smart dialer gets you online fast.  The downside for this provider is that you cannot cancel if you prepay during the free trial period.

NetZero

Net Zero gives you free and paid Internet access plans. Owned by the same company as Juno, you get pretty much the same service regardless of which one you choose. NetZero stands out for its 3G accelerated plan that claims to be the fastest dial up surfing available. On the downside, customer service representatives are instructed to urge you to stay if you call to cancel. This makes for an inconvenient and uncomfortable phone call if you decide you want to switch.

Juno

Because Juno is owned by the same company as Net Zero, you get the same types of plans. Juno’s has one unique feature. It lets you view your emails as soon as you sign on. This “Instaview” feature is a nice bonus. The problem with both NetZero and Juno is the difficulty cancelling.

Copper.net

Copper.net is very affordable and offers many of the same features as other providers in its price range. Their excellent and free customer service makes it easy to solve problems and easy to cancel.

BasicISP

It’s hard to rate BasicISP. The company designs their access to be bare bones and simple. No extras at all, but a super cheap price. BasicISP only gives you free technical support for the first 30 days, but charges only $4.95 per incident thereafter. That is likely to be cheaper than the $1.95 per minute charged by NetZero, Juno and PeoplePC.

TurboUSA

TurboUSA is nice because it is very affordable and requires no contracts, much like Copper.net. I boasts free US-based technical support and a 30-day money back guarantee. All in all, this is a good ISP with good features.

ISP.com

ISP.com is slightly cheaper than its competition. The free virus protection, compression technology and fast dial up are all bonuses. ISP.com also makes it easy if you want to cancel, giving you options by mail, phone and fax.

AOL

AOL is a fixture of American life and has come a long way from when the company ruled the world. AOL now caters to its customers’ wants and needs. Although it will cost a little more, the AOL’s features and extras make it stand out as the best dial up Internet access provider out there.

EarthLink

EarthLink boasts excellent customer service and some nice features, like Internet security and parental controls. Reports of difficulty with cancellations make switching to another provider worrisome. Still the company has the highest customer satisfaction ranking and offers free telephone support.
